Here are a few radios that I have restored

Home radio restoration costs obviously depend a lot on the condition of the set.  Radios that appear to be in poor physical condition (dirty, rust, broken dial strings, etc) will definitely cost more to restore due to the labor involved.  I recommend that you first determine what the value of the radio is to "yourself" to help in your quest to determine whether the radio is worth spending money on.

bullet

Does the radio have sentimental value?

bullet

Is it a rare and collectable set? (books are available to assist you in this analysis).

bullet

Is the radio attractive and do you plan to listen to it often?

If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, then, I would say that your radio is definitely worth having it restored or repaired.  The next question I would ask you:

bullet

Do you want to just repair the radio and get it working?  (basic clean up, repair bad components, check tubes, fix broken items, etc)

bullet

Or, do you want to do a complete high level restoration? (all of the previous work including detailing cabinet, refinishing, new grill cloth, etc)

Think about this and when you contact me, let me know what you would like to do to get your set working to your standards.

Philco Model 37-116

Zenith  9-S-367

This classic Zenith was in poor shape.  Almost all capacitors were replaced, some power resistors, dial cable, and tuning eye needed rewiring.  Once gone over, this radio sounds real nice.
